Zombieland

Never in my life have I imagined myself surrounded by zombies, much more imagined they're dying to attack me. And never in my life have I imagined playing the role of Milla Jovovich in the famous movie , Resident Evil, who's oh-so-eager to kill and eradicate these gruesome creatures. In fact, when I was in my elementary years, I just watched my elder brother play that famous Play Station game and even remembered covering my eyes whenever my brother attempted to open doors and cabinets to search for items for the said game. I could even still recall my hands being so cold and sweaty and my heart thumping whenever my brother faced the "master zombie." I'm just not the type who likes to be in action scenes, though I must admit it does seem cool and fun. I'm just more of the mellow or the feminine one, the type who prefers calm and romantic auras. hahahahah...

However, what happened at the dawn of October 23, 2011 was way beyond what I imagined my night would be. I was supposed to meet a friend for a drink when I decided to back out and just hang out with one of my closest pals, Fretzhie. She's the first person who came to my mind when I backed out from my appointment. I knew she'd be out on a Saturday night. True enough, she was with her friends from college hanging out in a place somewhere in Lahug. Since I didn't know where that place was, she picked me up and brought me to the place and there I saw the Zombieland. While on the phone with her, I thought it was just going to be a typical horror booth so I told her I'd go, but I didn't realize it was actually an airsoft challenge and the mission was to find and complete the required items while killing the zombies around us. I was not prepared for such task. My outfit says it all ~ bandage skirt and pink chiffon-like blouse!!! 

We first watched a video of the mission as an orientation and geared ourselves up with goggles, flashlights and of course, the guns, which I admit, were very heavy! While we waited for our turn, my anxiety level gradually became higher and higher and when our turn came, I couldn't even gather the courage to enter the very dark room towards our mission. Everyone in the area were laughing at me and Fretzhie as we were pushing each other to enter the room and complete the task. Then finally we were inside the room and the door closed!!! Screams were everywhere!! Fretzhie and I were like in a screaming competition, shouting as loud, if not louder, as we could. I could tell the zombies were very happy to hear us and very much eager to attack us. To my anxiety, I kept shooting and shooting as if I was already being attacked! The guide, who was there to help us with the mission and to capture our experience in a video warned us that our bullets were limited, still the warning didn't stop me from shooting. We entered the first room and was right away greeted by the ugly creature! Good thing Fretzhie was fast enough to kill him. Then another zombie was teasing us at the stairs. I was too afraid he'd come down the stairs and attack us so I focused on him and kept shooting while my partner was busy moving forward for our mission. Unluckily, she was killed by a zombie from another room and left me alone in the mission. I panicked after realizing she's out of the game that I kept shooting without any direction til I ran out of bullets! hahaha.. I was so stupid and anyone who'd see me would surely laugh their stomachs out! When I realized that I was left without anything to defend myself from the zombies anymore, I panicked and ran to the toilet where Fretzhie was heading and there the zombies merged and attacked us. Fretzhie, who was also scared, unconsciously shut the door to ward the zombies off but was too anxious to think about locking the door to avoid them from opening it. Finally, we gave in and I was killed!!! hahaha.. That ended our mission. The guide was so amused and the zombies were really entertained by our scared faces!!! hahaha... I would be if I were in their position! 

It was one hell of an experience for me! I never expected it would be that fun! Though, it wouldn't be as action-packed as others would imagine, but for me, as someone who's not into guns and zombies, truly felt I was in an action-filled movie!

Heard that this is just an annual event organized by a group of friends for the Halloween. This year,if my memory serves me right,is their 3rd year. They charge P200 per stage and you get a P50 discount when you play both stages. When you successfully complete your missions, you get to take home their collectibles - Zombieland dogtags and shirts.
